Interpretive tour to the Aspradantas menhir, with the archaeologist Ricardo Soares. During 2025, the Aspradantas Menhir, erected on a ridge to the south of the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe, was subject of an unprecedented archaeological project aimed at achieving a better understanding of the megalithic phenomenon on a European scale, with the strong hypothesis of a pioneering identity inaugurated around 7,000 years ago in the ancient Neolithic landscapes of the extreme south-west of continental Europe, dominated by the Mediterranean finisterra of Sagres and Cape St. Vincent.
Municipal public transport to the activity site, departing from Forte do Beliche (09h30). An easy 2 km walking route, guided by the municipal archaeologist Ricardo Soares, along which various natural and cultural landscapes will be interpreted. A unique and unrepeatable activity in which participants will have the opportunity to visit the site of the recent excavation at Menir de Aspradantas, accompanied by one of the archaeologists responsible for the project.
We recommend wearing closed walking shoes, a hat, clothing suitable for the weather conditions, and water for hydration.
At 9:30 a.m. at Forte do Beliche, next to the Vila do Bispo municipal bus
